International Blasphemy Day: a day to say “fuck’em all”!
Gone Podcasting, Be Back Soon…
For those of you who just started following, as well as those of you who continue to stick around, thanks. And please excuse my lack of activity over the past week or so, I was busy recording/producing my first Podcast!
As I recently mentioned, I’ve decided to start doing my best to Build The Godless Geek blog, into something more than it has thus far been. Part of that plan, is launching a science and freethought themed podcast to go along with it. But trying to devise an entertaining, weekly one man show about science and critical thinking, has been kind of a challenge. Not to mention the fact, that I’ve never done a podcast of any form before, and don’t REALLY know exactly how to go about the whole thing.
Sure, I have plenty of production skills at my disposal, having spent much of the last fifteen years writing and recording my own music. But trying to carry on a one man conversation about anything, much less attempting to communicate the importance of scientific literacy, critical thinking, etc, AND being entertaining about it in the process while simultaneously delivering something of an audio quality that’s worth listening to, is a completely different beast. Plus, never having done it before, I have no idea how the whole publication process works.
So I thought, why not start with something simpler?
Which is why, this past Friday, a friend and I got together and managed to record, what I think, will be the first episode of a show primarily about movies and games. Which, in turn, lead to me spending the rest of my weekend attempting to edit and produce an hour long talk show for the first time. And now, I have my usual 11 hour work days to contend with. [I’m actually taking advantage of my insomnia in order to even get this entry up; it’s currently almost 4 AM.] None of which is particularly conducive to researching science articles.
So again, please excuse the latest return to inactivity around here, I’m not just sitting around neglecting you. And while I’m not certain when, or even, if, either of my planned programs will make it out into the world. If you’re at all interested in actually HEARING more from me, stay tuned for more info.
Thanks again for being here, more to come shortly…
Meanwhile, in The Bible…
And just in case you don’t get the reference:
2:23 And he (Elisha) went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
So remember kids. Before you go calling someone “bald head”. You might wanna make sure that someone isn’t one of god’s crew. Otherwise, the all loving, benevolent super-being in the sky, just might send bears to rip you, and forty of your innocent adolescent friends into tiny, little, bits. And That’ll show ya.
NOW STOP MAKING FUN OF MY PONYTAIL AND GET OFF MY LAWN, YA LITTLE BASTARDS!!!

The Cult of The Celestial Teacup (crazy watering can)
No, don’t worry. The Cult of The Celestial Teapot isn’t a real thing. This video just reminded me of something…
"Is There a God?", Bertrand Russell (1872–1970)
"Many orthodox people speak as though it were the business of sceptics to disprove received dogmas rather than of dogmatists to prove them. This is, of course, a mistake. If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time."
vania heymann, doesn’t actually mention Russell’s writing or his teacup, often referred to as the Celestial or Cosmic Teapot, as the inspiration for his video. But intended or not, it seems an accurate depiction of Russell’s idea.
YouTube Banning Videos From ThunderFoot’s For Being, “Religiously Offensive”
For those of you unfamiliar, Thunderfoot’s is a popular Atheist/science/freethought/Free Speech channel on Youtube. Obviously, that means the views expressed within his videos are typically offensive to the average believer’s sensibilities, when it comes to the level of respect they feel their precious ideals deserve; that level being absolute and unyielding, of course.
But fragile sensibilities of the credulous aside, the reality is that Thunbderfoot is one of the more thoughtful and deliberate critics of religion you’ll find on the net. Who, at worst, one could fairly complain occasionally allows his language to stray towards the PG-13 end of the spectrum. He’s certainly nowhere near as disrespectful towards others as say, oh, I don’t know… ME. So the idea that his videos are now being removed by YouTube moderators for “Religious HATE SPEECH” is so absurd, it would be comical if it wasn’t so infuriating or so ominous a sign of things to come where the future of free speech on YT and the net in general is concerned. But that’s exactly what happened.
And it’s going to start happening more and more. Not just on YT but all over the net, if we don’t start making noise about this sort of thing right now.
So I’ll delve deeper into my own opinions on all this later. For now, go watch, like, favorite, and share the video above. Subscribe to Thunderfoot’s Channel if you’re not already, and if you really care, you can download copies of the blocked videos in the details section of the video above, and then mirror them to your own channel. Which I have started doing, HERE.
